Gluten Free Winter Christmas Chocolate Gift Ideas/ Review 2024.
“It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas….”
If you haven’t have guessed it already, I am big fan of the holiday season. 🙂
To mark the lead up to Christmas, I will be reviewing 9 gluten free Christmas chocolate treats to determine which ones would make the best Christmas gifts, at least according to my taste. My many years of eating gluten free chocolate have certainly come in handy here!
Fortunately, compared to my challenge finding gluten free sweets in theme for my Halloween review, finding gluten free Christmas chocolates was a lot easier. Honestly, I attribute it to the fact that, at least in England, loads of people don’t really care about Halloween 🙁 . But thankfully loads of people in England and all over the world love Christmas, myself included!!! 🙂
With this spirit in mind, lets go onto the list….
The 9 chocolate treats which I decided to try out for this review are as follows:
- Booja-Booja – Chocolate Truffle Loglets Yuletide Spice
- Gold Christmas 12 Chocolate Box
- Moo Free – Snowy Road
- Moo Free – Yummy Tummy Santa
- Whitakers Chocolates – Ginger Bread Crisps
- Whitakers Chocolates – Ginger Collection
- Whitakers Chocolates – Mint Collection
- Whitakers Chocolates – Orange Creams
- Whitakers Chocolates – Peppermint Creams
Why these 9 chocolate treats?
I decided to choose these chocolate treats due to their festive looks and interesting Christmasy flavours/concepts. Particularly, I found the Booja-Booja – Chocolate Truffle Loglets Yuletide Spice the most innovative with the chocolates being festively fruity and spicy in Yuletide form. With a notable exception being the top of the list, I tend to have ranked the selection boxes higher in the list, as I enjoy the variety. Generally, I really feel like there is some extra Christmasy about assortment boxes as well!

Whitakers Chocolates – Ginger Bread Crisps
Gluten Free and Vegan
10/10. Honestly these ginger bread crisps are my favourite out of the list. I noticed when I bought these that there was only one box left, which I took as an indication of their popularity. The chocolate is spectacular. The gingerbread flavour is sweet and gingery, but not at all overpowering. The crunch is perfect. I really like the hexagonal shape of the box and the gingerbread men illustrations, which allude nicely to the flavour of the chocolate.
Whitakers Chocolates – Mint Collection
Gluten Free and Vegetarian
The Mint Collection is the runner up in my list. All of the flavours are delicious. The Dark Mint Neopolitans and the Dark Mint Crisps are particularly great with a minty crunch. I personally really liked the Dark Mint Creams as well. The fondant cream has a very strong mint flavour, though I appreciate some people may be less of a fan of this one. The Milk Mint Neopolitans are lovely, but very sweet.
Booja-Booja – Chocolate Truffle Loglets Yuletide Spice
Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Soya Free and Vegan
Out of all of the chocolate boxes, I feel that the Booja-Booja – Chocolate Truffle Loglets Yuletide Spice has the best packaging. The box is classic, beautiful and Christmasy. As for the loglets themselves, I really like the texture of the chocolate and its fruity aftertaste. They also sell a similar box of chocolates that appear to have an orange flavour, which I may try another time.
Whitakers Chocolates – Ginger Collection
Gluten Free and Vegan
Seeing as out of the four flavours in this box, they contain my favourite, Dark Chocolate Gingerbread Crisp, it is inevitable that the Ginger Collection would rank quite highly in my list! Half of the flavours, Dark Chocolate Gingerbread Crisp and Dark Chocolate Gingerbread Neopolitan, are gingerbread. The other half, Dark Chocolate Ginger Cream and Dark Chocolate Ginger Neopolitan, are ginger flavoured. Personally, I feel that the gingerbread flavoured chocolates are a lot nicer than the ginger flavoured chocolates. The ginger flavoured chocolates are good, but they have a very strong ginger flavour, which I think some people would not be so keen on.
Whitakers Chocolates – Peppermint Creams
Gluten Free and Vegan
I think these peppermint creams are the same as the Dark Mint Creams from the Mint Collection. The chocolate is smooth and delicious. The fondant cream is very minty, which I love, though could be too much for some palates.
Moo Free – Yummy Tummy Santa
Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Palm Oil Free, Soya Free and Vegan
This mini chocolate Santa is adorable. This treat is festive and tasty, made up of both dark chocolate and white chocolate, along with delicious marshmallows in the centre. I really feel that this treat would especially appeal to kids. I think that it is great that the chocolate is free from so many different things.
Whitakers Chocolates – Orange Creams
Gluten Free and Vegan
These chocolates are lovely with nice ridges at the top. They have orange, zesty fondant centres and taste like Jaffa cakes. Personally, the orange flavour is a bit too overpowering for my taste though.
Gold Christmas 12 Chocolate Box
Sourced from www.chocolates-for-chocoholics.co.uk, which state on their website and when I contacted them that this specific product is gluten free and suitable for coeliacs. These chocolates also contain alcohol as they are liqueurs.
I am not the biggest fan of liqueurs, but I gave these chocolates a go as they are just so beautiful. I really like the Christmasy feel that the sparkly starry bow on the top of the box gives. The chocolate tastes nice, though there is a little bit of an artificial aftertaste. I liked the prosecco truffle the best, as I feel that it went well with the sugary pieces on the outside of the chocolate.
Moo Free – Snowy Road
Dairy Free, Gluten Free and Vegan
I really liked how this box is shaped like a Christmas cracker. The bunnycomb and the mallows are very nice, though I wasn’t a fan of the white choccy covered raisins or rice balls.
