Intro

The Flapjackery, which sells gluten free flapjacks, is a company that I found by accident on a rainy and miserable day on my holiday in Dorset. How typical of an English summer!

On this rainy day I stopped off at Lymington with my dog, and walked around the beautiful Highstreet. Whilst there, a bright yellow-orange store caught my eye with gluten free oats in the store window and a picture of Charles and Camilla trying flapjacks. Obviously, I was intrigued.

Inside the store, there was an abundance of gluten free flapjacks to choose from each looking delicious. A big plus was that they let my dog into the shop (always a win in my book)!

On the day, I decided to choose 3 giant flapjacks

  • Traditional Flapjack (just a normal flapjack),
  • Ginger & Dark Chocolate Flapjack,
  • Honeycomb Rocky Road Flapjack.

Whilst all amazing, the Honeycomb Rocky Road was by far my favourite, especially as it did not have any raisins or sultanas as many rocky roads do. Additionally, in store there were many treats other than flapjacks to try, and so I selected one mint and one orange tiffin. The tiffins were very delicious. However, they were missing the nice biscuity crunch that other tiffins have.

Other Flapjackery Stores

I enjoyed my flapjacks so much and it was lovely to experience a gluten free dessert on my travels. So, I looked up the Flapjackery online and ordered many other flavours, purely for research purposes.

However, I was a little disappointed because not everything that was available in store (like the tiffins and other chocolates) were available online to my knowledge. The only things that were still fully available both in store and online were the flapjacks.

So that is just something to note, if you are ever lucky enough to visit their in store locations really have a look around because what you see in store is not guaranteed to be available online.

There other store locations, other than the Lymington branch (which is the one I visited) including:

  • Bath,
  • Dartmouth,
  • Falmouth,
  • Fowey,
  • Minehead,
  • Padstow,
  • Plymouth,
  • Sidmouth,
  • St Ives,
  • Tavistock,
  • Wells.

So unfortunately, unless you are in the west country it seems the only way to get the gluten free flapjack fix is online. This is a shame as having looked at all the other stores online, they are quite pretty and aesthetic.

My Review of the Different Flapjacks in the ‘Create Your Own Flapjack Box’

When ordering online, I selected the ‘Create Your Own Flapjack Box – 8 Giant Flapjacks’ (all shown in the image below) and chose:

  • Billionaire,
  • Milk Orange,
  • Eton Mess,
  • Chocolate Fudge,
  • Raspberry Millionaires,
  • Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée,
  • Apple and Blackcurrant,
  • Ruby Millionaires.
gift box of Flapjackery’s artisan flapjacks arranged in neat rows, each bar labeled with its unique flavour: Billionaire, Milk Orange, Eton Mess, Chocolate Fudge, Raspberry Millionaires, Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée, Apple and Blackcurrant, and Ruby Millionaires. The vibrant toppings and drizzle details showcase their handcrafted appeal.

I really liked the presentation of all of the flapjacks. Though they were sent in the post, everything was sealed and well packaged, so I felt comfortable eating it. Furthermore, I really liked that in the box they gave you a specific date for when each of the different flapjacks expired, as this varies per flapjack flavour (for the ones that I chose they are depicted in the image below).

Billionaire Flapjack

Close-up of a decadent Billionaire flapjack, layered with golden oat base, smooth caramel, and glossy dark chocolate topping. A delicate sprinkle of gold dust or chocolate curls adds a luxurious finish, highlighting its indulgent texture and handcrafted detail.

The Billionaire Flapjack was a nice treat for an afternoon snack, like most of the flapjacks. As the flapjacks are quite large, I often split them in half and share with a friend (however often I don’t, I just have the whole thing, depends on the day!).

Honestly, I was expecting the Billionaire Flapjack to have a more caramel centre but instead it was more likely crumbly fudge, not a negative, just an observation. I really liked the honeycomb bits on top, but personally I would have liked more. Overall, it was a fantastic treat despite my odd nit-picking here and there, but by no means was it my favourite on this list.

Milk Chocolate Orange Flapjack

Close-up of a milk chocolate orange gluten-free flapjack, featuring a golden oat base infused with citrus zest, topped with a smooth layer of milk chocolate and delicate orange swirl. The glossy finish and rustic edges highlight its homemade appeal.

Wow, what a lovely colour! Whilst unfortunately it seems that my Milk Chocolate Orange Flapjack got a little bit battered in the post by no means did that impact the taste. I thought it was a wonderful flapjack, as I am an orange lover. However, the orange did taste a little on the artificial side and the chocolate was a little crumbly, still nice though.

Eton Mess Flapjack

Close-up of a gluten-free Eton Mess flapjack, featuring a golden oat base topped with swirls of creamy white chocolate, crushed meringue, and freeze-dried strawberries. The textures and colours evoke the classic dessert, with a handcrafted, summery finish.

The Flapjackery is very creative with the range of different desserts that they can put on a flapjack. I was not expecting them to put an Eton mess on top of a flapjack. It was delicious and it was nice getting notes of yoghurt and strawberry. Although, the meringue was not strong at all to the point that I did not even taste it. Next time, more meringue please!

Chocolate Fudge Flapjack

It was a very nice flapjack but, I am not really a fudge person and I have had better fudge in my life. I really did like the extra drizzles of white chocolate on top.

Raspberry Millionaires Flapjack

The raspberry millionaires is for the type of person that likes the traditional flapjack with only a little bit of something extra. A nice flapjack, but the raspberry flavour of the raspberry millionaires was quite weak in comparison to the flapjack.

Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée Flapjack

Close-up of Flapjackery’s Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée gluten-free flapjack, featuring a buttery oat base topped with a golden layer of salted caramel and creamy white chocolate. The surface is lightly torched to mimic a brûléed finish, with caramelized swirls and a glossy sheen that evoke the classic dessert’s indulgent charm.

I was so excited for the Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée Flapjack. I was shattered that I didn’t get my shatter moment that you normally do for a Crème Brûlée ☹. However, I can’t be too upset because this screams technical difficulties as it is delivered via the post. Overall, I really quite enjoyed it, but would have liked that Crème Brûlée crunch.

Apple and Blackcurrant Flapjack

Close-up of Flapjackery’s Apple and Blackcurrant gluten-free flapjack, showing a golden oat base topped with tangy blackcurrant compote and tender apple pieces. The fruit layers glisten against the rustic flapjack texture, highlighting its handcrafted, wholesome appeal.

A fan favourite in my group of friends. The Apple and Blackcurrant Flapjack had a lovely apple layer and a blackcurrant jam layer. Both the apple and blackcurrant tasted lovely and fresh and was not artificial tasting at all. Additionally, I felt that the apple and the blackcurrant flavours alongside the flapjack really complemented each other well.

Ruby Millionaires Flapjack

When I shared my Ruby Chocolate Flapjack with a couple of friends (each of us having a little slice each), how they wouldn’t stop going on about how much they loved it! Yet, it seems either you love it or you don’t get it with this treat, and I was honestly in the latter category. It just didn’t really do it for me (still a nice treat though!).

After the ‘Create Your Own Flapjack Box’, I saw some flavours that I wanted to try and retry and these flavours ended up being my favourites. So on to the favourites list…

Honeycomb Rocky Road

Close-up of Flapjackery’s Honeycomb Rocky Road gluten-free flapjack, featuring a chewy oat base topped with chunks of golden honeycomb, marshmallows, and crisp biscuit pieces, all coated in smooth milk chocolate. The layered textures and glossy finish highlight its indulgent, handcrafted appeal.

Wow wow wow! 🙂

I loved this, all of my friends and family loved this (at least those who have a sweet tooth). I would order this again and again and again (and I have!), because it is just so nice. A solid slab of chocolate with amazingly fluffy marshmallows and absolutely no raisins or sultanas. A lack of sultanas and raisins is a bonus for me because I absolutely hate them. I would eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could.

Cherry Bakewell Flapjack

Close-up of Flapjackery’s gluten-free Cherry Bakewell flapjack, showing a golden oat base topped with the classic Cherry Bakewell, and a sprinkle of flaked almonds.

Honestly, one of the nicest Cherry Bakewell’s I have ever had. It was just so delicious and amazing. I was lucky enough to get a corner piece and it was just divine. It was a 10/10 for me and I greatly enjoyed it.

Peanut Butter Brownie Flapjack

This flapjack is so good it converted me from a peanut butter hater to a peanut butter lover. It is just the perfect brownie! I greatly appreciated the peanuts that were embedded within the actual flapjack. A wonderful treat!

One Quick Extra Thing I Wanted To Add

Another aspect of the establishment that I liked was that the majority of the flapjacks are vegetarian (except the Honeycomb Rocky Road as it has marshmallows which contain gelatine). All of the flapjacks are gluten free however.

Wow, what a wonderful selection and it is so nice to have such an array of treats and options. That is not common when buying gluten free desserts normally.
