Tips & Tricks
Use a different type of potato
- If you want you can use sweet potatoes and chop them up into chunks
- Or you can use La Ratte Potatoes – these variants of potatoes have a nice and earthy taste which can quite complement the cheesy potatoes
- But like always, completely up to you!

Use a different type of cheese or multiple cheeses
- I am a parmesan cheese lover myself, but if you would like to you can use a different type of cheese if that is what you prefer
- However, a top tip of mine if you are cheese lover is to use a combination of cheeses, I always think that parmesan can pair quite nicely with any type of cheese but there are many types of cheeses that can pair nicely with a potato like a cheddar
Choose the butter that is right for you!
- In this recipe I recommended using butter, but you can just as easily substitute that for olive oil
- However, if you do decide to use butter like I recommended, you could use a garlic butter if you want to spice things up a bit!π
Using different spices
- In this recipe I thought the combination of butter, parmesan and parsley was a great combination. However, if you want to use any other combinations of spices be sure to try it out! Some other recommendations I have for good combinations that pair well with parmesan cheese are:
- Thyme
- Pepper (white or black)
- Oregano
- Mixed Herbs
- Rosemary
- Coriander
- Basil

Making the potatoes nice and roasted
- To make potatoes that are nice and crispy it is all about the surface area, you want to make sure that all of the potatoes have a nice surface area and connection to the bottom of the ovenproof dish. Additionally, in order to make the potatoes nice and crispy, and nicely buttered, make sure to thoroughly coat all of the potatoes in the butter.
Even coating on both sides
- Half way through the bake, make sure to flip the potatoes over so every potato in the pan has a nice and even coating of both the butter and the parsley! This helps to enhance the flavour, but completely up to you, I have been there many a time where I just can’t be bothered to flip them so don’t worry about it!π
