Easy To Make Gluten Free Cherry Crumble Recipe.
Easy to make gluten free cherry crumble recipe! This fantastic recipe is a lovely warm dessert that can feed a lot of people with low effort!
Cherries are such a wonderful sweet treat with an amazing slight tarte taste that makes them just simply delicious!
I love a crumble, and whilst an apple crumble holds a soft spot in my heart, the cherry crumble is superior in my opinion. The cherry crumble is superior for one reason one reason only, because it is so much lower effort and easier to make than an apple crumble. An apple crumble requires cooking of the apples on the hob beforehand, whereas, for the cherry crumble you can use frozen cherries straight out of the packet with no extra steps – it is fantastically simple!
So, all in all, whilst I do love a good apple crumble and may add one on the blog one day, here below is my gluten free cherry crumble recipe for the ones that like a low effort warm dessert!πππ
Reminder: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE BOUGHT FROZEN PITTED CHERRIES, OR IF YOU USE FRESH CHERRIES THAT YOU PIT THEM!

To serve with…
Gluten free cherry crumble, or any crumble in general is usually traditionally paired with a side of custard or vanilla ice cream. I definitely believe that it is a fantastic pairing, I love when warm desserts are combined with a cool side desserts like ice cream. Remember, whilst custard and vanilla ice cream is traditionally paired, you can choose whatever flavour of ice cream that you want, you can even have a chocolate custard if you like, the choice is up to you!!!πππ
Tips and Tricks
- In the ingredients list I have stated to use frozen cherries – this is purely for your own convenience. majority of the time frozen cherries have been washed and pitted for you (double check), which makes your life so much easier and saves you so much time! However, if you would like to use fresh cherries which you often have to wash and pit yourself (unless you have bought a bag of fresh pitted cherries), then that is up to you. It makes no difference to the recipe whether they are frozen or fresh cherries, but frozen cherries saves you boat loads of time and they are much more convenient, so I would recommend using frozen cherries!
- In the ingredients list and in the recipe instructions I have stated to use butter straight from the fridge – this is necessary as you need to use cold butter in order to make the crumbly breadcrumb texture of crumble. If the butter is too soft, then it won’t make those lush crumbles!
- I would recommend adding the last 50-100g of the dry ingredients (gluten free oats and gluten free flour) only once you have thoroughly mixed 200-250g of the dry ingredients with the butter, this will ensure that everything is thoroughly mixed and prevent you from adding too much dry ingredients to the crumble mixture just in case. Remember you can always add more dry ingredients later but but cannot add less once it has been mixed in.
- Adding toppings – personally, and this is up to you, but adding chocolate chips on top of the crumble, I think would be a nice addition, but that is up to you if you want to do that – just a suggestion.
- Additionally, if you want to change the recipe a bit with the crumble be my guest. I quite like the simple crumble, but if you want you can add vanilla extract, nutmeg, or cinnamon.
- Same with the cherry mixture, if you want you can also use both frozen raspberries and cherries, or you can add in other berries that you want like cranberries etc. to make a mixed berry crumble instead of just a pure cherry crumble
- The portion sizes are just a suggestion, whilst I definitely believe that this could serve 8, I also believe in giving yourself a good sizeable portion. πππβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
